Dotmos is free question & answer community, where anyone can post questions related to internet marketing and web development. These questions are then answered by professionals in the industry, and those answers are voted on by the community, allowing the best responses to rise to the top.
How it Works
Users are required to register in order to be able to ask a Question, and the same goes for those users willing to participate in providing Answers.
Once registered, you’ll be able to create your own profile page. This page allows you to change your password, add Twitter/Facebook/website links, update your Bio and manage all of your Questions. You can also save your favorite Questions and may subscribe to our RSS feed, if you like.
User Reputation
When other users vote up your Questions and Answers, you collect ‘reputation points.’ The higher the Reputation Score, the more trusted you become, as it’s evident that you are capable of providing high quality and relevant Answers (and Questions).
Who is allowed vote?
First of all, you can’t just register and expect to be able to vote Pro (vote up) or Con (vote down). If you want to be able to vote, you’ll have to earn a couple of Reputation points first. There’s a minimum Reputation Score that you will need to reach before you will be able to vote Pro and another minimum score to vote Con. Why? Well, it’s kinda obvious that users with higher Reputation score provide more relevant Answers. Such users typically have a higher level of experience and are more competent to judge whether certain Questions or Answers are trustworthy. That and we want to avoid ‘spam’ votes.
Who is allowed to ACCEPT Answers?
Only the Question creator is allowed to accept an Answer as the solution. If you are the Question owner and are logged in, you’ll see a little link below each Answer reading “ACCEPT?”. Once an Answer is accepted, the current Question becomes tagged as “SOLVED” so other users can take it as a trustworthy answer. Of course, the Question owner is allowed to cancel an accepted Answer at any time and pick another one.
Two types of Answers
Each registered user is allowed to post so called “official” Answers or reply to existing ones. Replies are treated as comments on existing Answers and voting is not allowed on comments.
